It was pretty fricken awesome I'll give it that, honestly...(My mind does this a lot. I don't actually really like anyone until I have a bloody dream about 'em. My last one was Stiles from Teen Wolf. e-o)
Pitch is actually a really cool villain. Not many animated movies can say they had a character who really knew how to break the protagonist down. Plus I can never tell if he's tricking Jack or if he's telling the truth when he talks about family and stuff. His design is awesome too, with the seamless robes and flat, colorless complexion complete with gnarly teeth that just EWWWW EVERY TIME UGH but. Anyway. I really think you did amazingly well in capturing Pitch here. It's so simple but it just draws your eyes...
Just his expression and the way the lines swirl from behind him somehow make me think of the Lion King when Scar sends the hyenas after Silva and all he says is, "Kill 'im." It's so cool!
Ah, I know right! They did excellent job interpreting him. Somehow I really like the way Pitch is nowhere near the gross and cliche "nightmare kings" that I've seen portrayed in some other films and books. In actual fact he's very sophisticated and discreet, yet still mysterious and intimidating. And the voice! Jude Law is just perfect in this role~
I truly enjoyed this movie, I just wish they had explored this character a little bit more. He is so much more dynamic in the books and it really gives you a lot of insight into WHY he's the way that he is.
(STILL one of my favorite films though, just sayin'.)
I have been a long time "lurker" and quiet watcher. You're one of my favorite artists with such a refreshing style and wonderful attention to detail and imagination. I'd love to draw some of your characters for you sometime.
