Sumio Shiratori - Kun Ha Minami He
Heuler, a supporting character from Ginga Densetsu Weed manga and anime series by Yoshihiro Takahashi. He belongs in a small team of guard dogs lead by a German Shepherd called Jerome. Their goal is to hunt down and eliminate a bloodthirsty half canine known as P4, or "Kaibutsu", a result of science’s research in gene manipulation. After escaping the institute the monster has been roaming around the Ohu mountains, killing humans and everything that comes by him.
Heuler is serious, silent and somehow very likable dog (and has a pair of striking blue eyes, whoa). To me he seemed like an interesting character and I was really disappointed to see him disappear from the story in such an early stage. I don't think I'm spoiling much by revealing that all of Jerome's subordinates were killed in the last battle against Kaibutsu. It was kind of a suicide attack.
He had slightly bigger role in the original manga, where he was mentioned to be second-in-command after Jerome.
(And if you ask me, the manga version is hundred times better than the sloppy anime. Read the manga if you can.)
Those familiar with the anime might question the snowy and chilly atmosphere here, since when Jerome and his squad were first introduced in the series, it was clearly summer. But in the manga, it's a blizzard. In fact, if you browse thought the books, it's wintertime almost throughout the whole series. Maybe it's just Mr. Takahashi's way to create drama and action in the scenes by putting a hell of a snowstorm in the background.
I also found the music linked above very fitting to this piece. If the song does you the same as it did to me, you're ought to get this mysterious and cold feel that makes you think of Japanese mountains, silent midwinter forests and frozen rivers. If not.. well, it's still a great Moomin song~ Thanks to *TigerEyed
for having it on their YouTube channel :3
